Preparing for your engagement session
This is such an exciting time for you! Engagement photos are a great way to remember this chapter of your life. They allow you and your fiance to get to know me and feel comfortable in front of the lens.
It's great to think about your engagement session like a date with a third wheel- that's me ;) You two get to hang out and cuddle up and I'll document it unfold. I'll give you prompts but it's the in between moments, when you forget I'm there, that are the best.
CLOTHING
I have a recommendation guide for families here and most of the same things apply. You can check it out
With any engagement session, feel free to bring a change of clothes to your shoot. Some couples like to have a dressy option and a casual option. Above all else choose clothes that make you feel confident!
HAIR & MAKEUP
Whether you choose to have your hair and makeup professionally done is totally up to you! Its a great idea to schedule your makeup trial the day of your engagement session. This allows you to really see how your makeup will look in photographs and make changes as you like for your wedding.
Ideas could be include a theme park, hot air balloon, sail boat, a rooftop bar, horse back riding, or a sunset picnic. I'd love to hear about your unique idea!
Here are a few things to think about when planning your engagement session.
LOCATION
Choosing a location that is somewhere special to the two of you is ideal. This will personalize your session and tell your story. Maybe that's your family boat, the university you attended together, your favorite coffee shop or the beach where you got engaged.
SCHEDULING
As for when to have your photos done there is no right or wrong answer. Some people want them done as soon as they're engaged. Others like to wait for a certain season. There is, however, a good time of day for photos. If it's a sunny day, I will recommend starting your session 1.5 hours before sunset. If it's overcast, we will get started a little earlier!
